Osprey was chosen the bird of 2018 in Russia

Osprey is a typical species of the lakes and river valleys of the forest zone. It is easily recognized and distributed on the most part of Russia. But it is needed to be protected as rare species. The main threats for the species are shooting, poaching nets for fishing, cutting of nesting trees, electrocution on power lines, etc.
Osprey is listed in the Red Data Book of the Russia and is under protection of the country.
There are planned activities devoted to the conservation of Osprey during 2018. All interested people can take part in them.
