    Since May 25, 2015 has been started monitoring of the Steppe Eagle populations in the pilot regions of the project UNDP/GEF/Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia “Improving the system and management of protected areas in the steppe biome of Russia”

    The Project “Eagles of Russia” received the support of the Russian Geographical Society for the second time. This time the subject was “Eagles of Russia: Electricity supply network Environment and conservation of birds,” for “Conservation of wildlife,” supervised by the Environmental commission of Russian Geographical SocietyRussian Geographic Society provided a grant (600 000 rub) for study and protection of Russia eagles – “Eagles of Russia: Electricity Grid Environment and Safety of Birds” in the nomination “Saving wildlife.” We invite everyone to help in keeping the Eagles from death electrocution!

    (Русский) Сколько пернатых погибло в страшной каше изо льда и нефти, после разлива на Каме сейчас уже вряд ли удастся установить. Но, по крайней мере, судьба двух – занесенных в Красную книгу орланов-белохвостов – известна. Один утонул на глазах у местных жителей. Другого – спасли. Но сохранить ему жизнь не удалось, несмотря на все старания.

    (Русский) За 60 лет только для популяций ушастой совы установлена связь между Британией и Россией – два возврата британских ушастых сов из России в 1977 г. (Марийская Республика) и 1992 г. (Псковская область) и 4 возврата российских сов (все из Калининградской области) из Британии в 1960, 1979, 1983 и 1987 гг. Для всех других видов пернатых хищников связь между странами не установлена.

    International Conference on the Conservation of the Lesser Spotted Eagle

    The International Conference devoted to the Lesser Spotted Eagle (Aquila pomarina) conservation was held in Slovakia on 25-27 September 2014. It was dated to coincide with the completion of the four-year project aimed at protecting this species of eagles in Slovakia.

    We are currently monitoring the migrations of two females born in 2013, a Greater Spotted Eagle by the name of Zava from the Zavyalovsky Reserve in Altai Krai and a Steppe Eagle by the name of Dusya from the Ust-Kansky basin in the Altai Republic. News on the movements of the birds appears regularly on the site and in the forum.

    Participants of the 7th International Conference on the Conservation of the Eastern Imperial Eagle

    The 7th International Conference on the Conservation of the Eastern Imperial Eagle was held between 2nd and 5th of October in Baronka hotel in Bratislava, Slovakia. Over 40 experts participated and presented results from 10 countries. 18 prestentations and 5 posters were presented. It was decided at the invitation of the Russian Raptors Research and Conservation Network the next conference in 2018 to be held in Russia.

Local and international conservation non-governmental organizations, private electrical company and local governmental organizations have taken part at the Round table. Participants of the Round table have discussed actual questions of raptor conservation against electrocution on medium-voltage power lines.
